Fleur de Lys

Making it exciting!

Nice - but could be better...

When working on a project, sometimes it’s better to select items for your room that serve as backgrounds for your furniture or objects.  This particular wallpaper is a faux bois done in a soft pale taupe.  The linen fabric has crewel embroidery done in a geometric pattern reminiscent of the southwest.  Together they look great but let’s see what a little upgrading can create.

We used a few decorative nail-heads to create more dimension on the upholstered headboard.  We also applied a wool-like feature mimicking the stripes in the fabric.  We then used decorative nail-heads to form the same design on the paper.

We think we’ve taken a pretty good looking design and made it more exciting!  What do you think?

A Peek at Spring

New Fabric & Coordinating Wallpaper

It’s cold outside and there’s nothing like dreaming about spring to get your juices flowing.  Just before the holidays I received a shipment of some new fabrics I designed – it was just like opening a great Christmas present!  We’ve paired one of them here with a fabulous metallic background wallpaper from York.

Let’s upholster the walls with the fabric to make the room cozy and paper the ceiling – can’t you just imagine the softly beautiful light reflected back down into the room?  WOW!

I’ll admit it – I LOVE embroidered fabrics.  It doesn’t matter to me if the embroidery is done on silk, velvet, cotton or jute – I love them all!

My new private label line – Fleur de Lys Home Finery features crewel fabrics and will have coordinating solids, and even some wallpapers next season.

I’ve also been seeing embroideries in magazines lately.  Here are some pictures that show a more contemporary side of embroidery used by some very savvy designers.  Aren’t they fabulous?
